Inclusion Criteria:
All patients entering the study had had average diastolic blood pressures of 95 mm Hg or less during the previous
year while on pharmacological treatment.

This report presents the success of the dietary interventions in affecting body weight and sodium/potassium
intake among patients assigned to a weight reduction protocol and those assigned to a sodium restriction group.
