Inclusion Criteria:
The target study population included adolescents with no health conditions, except for obesity, aged between 10 and 19 years, or a mean age within this range, based on the World Health Organization's definition of adolescence. Interventions included using mobile phones to improve health and fitness by influencing adolescents on lifestyle behavior modification, with the aim of improving physical health and fitness. The behavior modification involved at least one of the following: physical activity, dietary intake, and sedentary behavior. Interventions may have included mobile phone intervention only or a multicomponent intervention, where the mobile phone application was one of several intervention components. Study outcomes were reported using a numerical scale. Quantitative outcomes of the intervention effectiveness, including fitness, body weight, behavior changes.
Exclusion Criteria:
Studies that utilized nonexperimental study designs were excluded (i.e., observational or case studies, studies reporting prevalence or trend data, feasibility studies, measurement studies, and theoretical papers). Additional studies that were not peer-reviewed were excluded (i.e., letters, commentaries, conference proceedings, reviews, and narrative articles).
