MiOA: Recommendation Prioritization Tool
MiOA Recommendation Prioritization Tool for Evidence-based Nutrition Practice
Purpose: The purpose of this tool is to help dietitians and other healthcare practitioners prioritize recommendations from comprehensive evidence-based guidelines for incorporation of new practices or innovations into their daily practice.
Background: Evidence-based nutrition practice guidelines are comprehensive resources developed to guide individualized nutrition care by healthcare practitioners. Active and high-quality implementation of one recommendation can be a major undertaking. Upon publication of a guideline, practitioners should carefully consider each recommendation in relation to their daily nutrition practice. This tool will help practitioners allocate time and resources to a recommendation(s) that is most acceptable, appropriate, feasible, and sustainable for their nutrition practice. Practitioners should periodically revisit the guideline and prioritization tool as contextual factors will change over time.
Instructions: The tool is created in Excel format. Click the link below to download the document to begin the recommendation priorization. There are 15 questions within four categories - Appropriateness, Acceptability, Feasibility, and Sustainability. Answer each question for each recommendation to receive a score.

Results: The recommendation with the highest score should be prioritized for implementation in daily practice. Recommendations with scores less than 32 points may not be feasible to implement at the time of survey completion. However, recommendations with scores less than 32 should be reconsidered at a later time as contextual factors may change.
We Value Your feedback: After completing the Prioritization Tool, please take a moment to respond to this brief 5-Question Survey. Your input is essential for enhancing the tool and ensuring it better serves your needs. At the end of the survey, you’ll have the option to upload your completed Recommendation Prioritization Survey. Your feedback will help guide improvements to future evidence-based nutrition practice guidelines.
