Disorders of Lipid Metabolism (DLM) Systematic Review (2007-2011)

Welcome to the Disorders of LIpid Metabolism (DLM) Project site. Work on this project was first published on the EAL in 2005 and updated periodically through 2011.  Highlights of this project include:
  • Target population of adults.
  • Use the links on the left to access the sub-topics areas and over 90 evidence analysis questions.
  • Evidence-based Nutrition Practice Guidelines were released in 2011.
  • Expand the Project Resources section below for information on various resources for this topic area.

  • Project Resources
    The following resources were developed:
     
    • Disorders of Lipid Metabolism Toolkit - this toolkit is designed to assist the registered dietitian in applying the Academy 2005 Disorders of Lipid Metabolism Evidence-Based Nutrition Practice Guidelines. It includes resources such as the MNT protocol, sample documentation forms, client education materials and outcomes monitoring forms. It also incorporates the Academy Nutrition Care Process and Standardized Language for patient/client care.  Click to purchase

    • DLM (2011) Guideline Presentation - This 57-slides include all of the recommendations and ratings of the updated DLM Guideline. Ideal for use in meetings, in-service presentation/training, and classes.  Click to purchase.
       
    • Educator Module on Disorders of Lipid Metabolism - This resources is designed tp save the educator time. It includes Word documents and PowerPoint files with DLM project content overview and instructions for navigating the EAL; student assignments including case studies and questions for classroom discussion or take-home exam; graduate or advanced assignment on evaluating a research article using the Academy evidence analysis process; grading key for both assignments; 3 weeks access to the EAL for 30 students.  Click to purchase.
